Instructor: Mrs. Dubois
Welcome to my web page on School Fusion. You will find homework assignments, classroom news, and upcomming events listed here.
One of the files you will want to read is the weekly homework expectations file. This describes what you will usually have for homework each week and how it is graded.
An average 5th grader should be spending about 50 minutes per night on homework. This includes long term projects and studying. Some students will find they spend a little more, and some a little less. 5th graders should also be reading at least 20 minutes per night.
Some of the big skills and concepts we will work on include writing, using the 6 traits, fractions and decimals, writing a research paper, and more. In social studies, the focus will be in ancient civilizations. In science, we will be studing plants, animals, earth science and the planets, among other things. This will be an off-year for science fair, but there will be experiments and demonstrations in science.
Students have severl opportunites each day to participate in prayer and to talk about their faith. I have fould fifth grade a great age for these conversations with God and with eachother.
The Fifth grade will be attending a special mass at the cathedral in Denver, the water festival, and will go on other field trips that coordinate with the curriculum. Please let the room mom(s) know if you can help as a driver.
This is sure to be a wonderful year. God Bless you!
